Who Am I ?
God saved me in 2006, and from that moment He put a hunger in me to know Him through His Word. That hunger never left. In 2009 I began to discover that God had gifted me for preaching, and with the guidance of my pastor I began to exercise that gift in my local church. By 2013 I was called to serve as a preaching Elder, a role I carried bi-vocationally for ten years.
Today my primary calling is leading my family and serving my local community. But my burden doesn’t stop there.
I see people all over the world who genuinely want to know Jesus, but the Bible feels out of reach. It feels too big, too intimidating, too complicated. And so they stay on the outside, looking in.
That’s why Shape & Sharpen exists.
What is "Shape & Sharpen"?
Shape & Sharpen is a Bible teaching channel and resource hub built for everyone – the guy who has never read a single verse, the believer who has read it for years but still struggles to understand it, and the leader who wants to teach it well.
Everything here is built on a few convictions:
- The Bible is for everyone, not just scholars or seminary graduates
- Good Bible teaching should be theologically rich and easy to understand
- The gospel is the root of every page of Scripture, and it should be taught that way
- Teaching should be honest, natural, and hold nothing back
- The goal is never just information; it’s transformation
Who is this for?
Whether you are an individual learner wanting to understand the Bible for the first time, or a parent wanting to lead your family through Scripture, or a small group or Bible study leader looking for solid ready-to-use material, or a pastor wanting accessible, gospel-centered teaching resources, Shape & Sharpen was built with you in mind.
The bigger picture
Ultimately, everything I create has two aims: to teach the gospel, and to equip others to do the same.
I want to see men who can open the Bible with their families and teach it with confidence. I want to see small group leaders who are equipped – not just with good content, but with the understanding to disciple others and share the gospel themselves. I want to see the next generation shaped by the Word.
The Bible is alive. It is sufficient. And it is for you.
Theology: What Do We Believe?
A Note on Doctrine
That said, I want to be transparent. Every Bible teacher writes and teaches from somewhere. No one is truly neutral, and pretending otherwise wouldn’t be honest.
I hold to Reformed Theology from a Presbyterian, Covenant Theology perspective, with an Amillennial understanding of biblical prophecy and the book of Revelation. This shapes how I read Scripture, how I structure teaching, and how I understand the gospel and the whole storyline of the Bible.
If you come from a Reformed background, I want you to know where I stand. If you don’t, I want you to know that Shape & Sharpen is not a platform for theological gatekeeping; it is a place where the Bible is taught honestly, the gospel is central, and you are welcome.
What do you believe about God?
I believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – each fully and equally God, distinct in Person but one in essence, will, and glory. This is the historic doctrine of the Trinity, and it is foundational to everything. (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
What do you believe about Jesus Christ?
I believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man, who took on human flesh through the virgin birth. He lived a perfectly sinless life, was crucified as a substitute for sinners, was bodily raised from the dead on the third day, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return in glory to judge the living and the dead. He is the only Saviour, and there is no other name by which we must be saved. (John 1:1–14; Acts 4:12; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4)
What do you believe about Salvation?
I believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone. This is the heart of the gospel and the heartbeat of all Shape & Sharpen content. Salvation is not earned or maintained by human effort. God, in His mercy, chose a people for Himself, sent His Son to redeem them, and by His Spirit brings them to repentance and faith. All the glory belongs to God. (Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 8:29–30; Titus 3:4–7)
What do you believe about sin and the human condition?
I believe that in Adam, all humanity fell. Every person is born in sin, spiritually dead, and unable to come to God by their own will or effort. This is what theologians call Total Depravity – not that people are as bad as they could be, but that sin affects every part of who we are, including our minds, wills, and desires. We are not sinners because we sin; we sin because we are sinners. (Romans 3:10–12; Ephesians 2:1–3)
What do you believe about the Church?
I believe the Church is the covenant community of God’s people – those called out of the world by the gospel and gathered together under the lordship of Jesus Christ. The local church is central to the Christian life. It is where the Word is preached, the sacraments are administered, and believers are discipled and equipped. Shape & Sharpen is not a replacement for the local church. It is a resource to serve it. (Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 4:11–13; Hebrews 10:24–25)
